Perfective, performative and present: Some non-standard combinations in Slavic and beyond

The combination of perfective aspect and present tense is frequently considered as an example semantically incompatible grams. If verbal forms including markers both do exist in a language, they tend not to express resp. the strict sense. Thus, Russian such usually convey future, napishu ‘I will write’. article discusses specific type contexts where these develop less trivial meaning what can be called “prospective present”. Obligatory components are first person verb negation. We focus on three instances this kind : ne skazhu (lit. won’t tell’), dam give’) pushchu let’)’. With data National Corpus (RNC) notably parallel corpora within RNC, we demonstrate that certain uses, constructions correspond speech acts refusal or prohibition viewed, accordingly, expressing performative meaning. As performatives, verbs refer situation: speaker’s comes into operation at moment utterance, some point future. present-tense reference corroborated by translational counterparts / from corpora, other languages regularly use contexts. performative-like provide new potential non-future meanings forms.
